When should we start wedding dance lessons?
Most couples start two to three months before the wedding — and Vanessa recommends scheduling your lessons to wrap up three to four weeks before the big day. By then, your dance is locked in. She times it that way on purpose: the final weeks before a wedding are busy, so there’s nothing new to learn during the countdown — just practicing together, polishing, and building confidence. Starting earlier leaves room for the full ten-lesson experience, and if your wedding is coming up fast, Vanessa works with tighter timelines too — just reach out.
Do we need any dance experience?
No — most couples arrive with zero dance experience. Lessons are private and built around your comfort level, goals, and song, so there’s no group class, no judgment, and no pressure. Vanessa teaches a variety of styles including foxy (a modernized version of the foxtrot), two-step, salsa, swing, waltz, and more — entirely at your pace.
Can we take wedding dance lessons online?
Yes — Lessons with Vanessa offers live virtual lessons over Zoom, with the same private coaching as in-studio sessions. Virtual lessons work anywhere and are an easy option for couples outside Austin, TX.
